About Organic Farm Knowledge

The Organic Farm Knowledge platform provides access to a wide range of tools and resources about organic farming that can help improve production. It also aims to serve as a virtual meeting place for cross-border learning.

The platform promotes the exchange of knowledge among farmers, farm advisers, and scientists, with the aim of increasing the productivity, quality and sustainability of organic farming across Europe.

Funding

The Organic Farm Knowledge platform was originally set up by the International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS) in the framework of the OK-Net Arable project. From January 2018 to March 2021, Organic Farm Knowledge was developed further by the project OK-Net EcoFeed. Both projects were coordinated by IFOAM Organics Europe and were funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

The toolbox - the core of Organic Farm Knowledge

The core of the Organic Farm Knowledge platform is the toolbox, which provides access to resources for organic farmers and advisors. The tools were selected by or created in various projects and from several institutions.

The type of these tools ranges from practice abstracts, leaflets, videos, website, etc. The toolbox offers the possibility for an arbitrary text search as well as displaying tools by theme, language, organisation, project, keyword, type, country of origin and year.

The search results can be further sorted by name, year, organisation, associated project and rating.

Link to Organic Eprints

The Organic Farm Knowledge platform is directly linked to the Organic Eprints online archive, where information and publications related to organic farming research are stored. Organic Eprints is maintained by the International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS), who also set up the first version of the Organic Farm Knowledge Platform in 2016.

The Management board consists of FiBL (hosting, management, and maintenance of Organic Farm Knowledge), ICROFS (management and maintenance of Organic Eprints) and IFOAM EU (coordination and promotion). More information about the Management board
